How are we already on week 14? Friday night, I went up to UC Clifton and hung out with some friends. We ate homemade chili, seasoned bread, chips and salsa, and cookies. We also played the card game "spoons". Saturday and Sunday we had dance practice both days since the performance is coming up. It's all coming together, but we still have a lot to get through.
School: This week in school was pretty typical. I had an Organic Chemistry exam this past Thursday which was rough. In Business Communication, our group continued to work on our presentation. We basically choose a topic and have to prepare a presentation that runs over 10 minutes. My group is doing "Unequal Pay in the Workplace". It was also the last Physics lab meeting, which is both good and bad. I really enjoyed that class. We tested out our windmills in lab, mine and my partner's went 36 rad/s!
Student Ambassadors: The week started off with Monday's welcome desk. It was calm and not that many calls. Wednesday, Leo (Student Ambassador) and I headed to the Annex for the Artist's Reception. This event happens a lot, but it was my first time working it. It is an event to showcase community artwork. There were snacks, beverages, and it looked exactly like an art museum. Once we got there, we helped set-up. Throughout the event, I welcomed guests, interacted with new faces, and ate cheese. The guests enjoyed looking at the artwork while hanging out, listening to classical music, and eating. The last event of the semester was this past Sunday. It was the Canine Corps Event. This event is one of my favorite events of this semester. The event happens every year, and basically Vet Techs and Vets do free screenings and check-ups to service and police dogs. I started off labeling blood tubes after the Vet Techs drew blood and sweeping dog fur (I'm really surprised that I didn't have an allergic reaction). I then got the job of taking pictures to send to the Communications department to showcase the event to the public. I got to get close-up pictures of each room and got to see what each branch of veterinary medicine does up close, which was an incredible learning experience. In the Orthopedic room, I even got to hold the dogs up to prevent them from sitting when they were being observed.
Pictures: The first 8 pictures are from the Canine Corps Event. The last picture is from the Art Gallery.
